IMM Graduate School Diploma In Marketting Management Course

The Diploma in Marketing Management is offered as an intermediate qualification at level 6 of the NQF (HEQSF aligned) and consists of 360 credits. The Diploma in Marketing Management is comprised of compulsory and elective modules.The Diploma in Marketing Management can be completed within a minimum of three years but must be completed within eight years.

Learning OutcomeAdmission criteria for prospective students who matriculated prior to and including 2007:

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • A CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required from prospective students over 23 years of age, who have no Senior Certificate, and must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit stating that they did not obtain a Senior Certificate. *

Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated and exited the school system as of 2008:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC), National Certificate Vocational (NCV) or equivalent, including an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in English home language or 4 (50-59%) in English first additional language.
  • The student must have met the minimum requirements for admission to a diploma programme at a higher education institute.
  • A CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required from prospective students over 23 years of age, who have no NSC, and must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit stating that they did not obtain a NSC.

* No credit transfers for modules will apply for RPL. RPL will only apply for access to programmes

Articulation from the Higher Certificate in Marketing to the Diploma in Marketing Management

  • Graduates must have successfully completed all the modules on the Higher Certificate in Marketing offered by the IMM Graduate School.

There are nine learning outcomes in this programme:

  • Demonstrate an intermediate but broad scope of management knowledge and how it applies to the marketing discipline.
  • Demonstrate an intermediate understanding of the knowledge literacy regarding economics, financial management, management principles in general, business communication, marketing research and marketing activities.
  • Select, apply and evaluate typical methods and procedures involved in marketing.
  • Solve intermediate marketing problems in organisations.
  • Show an understanding of the code of ethical behavior in the field of marketing and base decisions and actions on appropriate marketing management values.
  • Produce a strategic marketing plan and evaluate its success.
  • Produce and communicate information in a business environment showing respect to conventions around intellectual property, copyright and plagiarism.
  • Demonstrate an intermediate understanding of the economic context and systems within which organisations operate and link them to marketing opportunities.
  • Show an understanding of the scope of responsibilities required of a management position in the marketing field, and understand the accountability to senior management in an organisation.
